about

Rolling on into the month of May, MOSAIC boss Steve O’Sullivan lays down the next exclusive Bandcamp DTL release for his renowned imprint. Releasing a follow up package from French producer and sound designer Upwellings (Vincent Raude) in the form of 'Ostara "(Part Two), the EP features one of his trademark compositions alongside a raft of remixes from new label associates.

The EP opens with the gentle sway of “False Realities”, a soothing down tempo dub that blends chords, strings and pulsating bass with a quietly telling vocal that pulls you in close. Opening the remixes, Tact Recordings founder Fletcher applies his knowhow to “Snow Dawn”, creating a smooth expansive ride to the edges of the cosmos – filled with lush pads and twinkling melodic splashes. Cologne based duo Hidden Sequence weigh in with a re-rub of the same title, offering a classic rhythmic feel as they lead on the beat through a stab, delayed effects and bouncing bottom end.

Moving onto the title track “Ostara”, Innate boss ‘Owain K’ lends an ear to turn out the “skip n dip” mix that fully inhabits the borders of dubby tech-house, all injected with plenty of funk. Dutch maestro MOOR moves his remix unashamedly into the realms of driving Techno with a take that lets the machines do all the talking as it builds with millimetre precision over the duration. Last but not least, promising UK talent and recent Echochord artist El Choop drops a solid slab of a rework that sits squarely between a bass-led groove, snappy percussion and drawn out atmosphere that takes into a trance.
