For the next exclusive Bandcamp MOSAIC digital release I’ve called on the talents of French producer and sound designer Upwellings (Vincent Raude).

Well known in his local scene of Rennes for having mastered the sounds of deep dubbed out minimalism and his exceptional live sets, Raude is an experienced hand who composes music for a range of projects that includes theatre and dance and has an impressive catalogue of releases for the likes of Klique, Tiefenrausch, ZeEC and spclnch.

This latest EP “Ostara” is no exception to his previous outings, exhibiting a fine collection of super smooth, warm atmospheric techno: all infused with thoughtful touches of dub.

Starting with the opening track “Snow Dawn”, Raude quietly strokes your senses as hushed bassline sets to sway and chorded elements dance around with rhythmic ease. Title track “Ostara” then moves up a gear, led with a solid kick and expanding slices of melody that playful move across the sonic sphere. Not be outdone, Steve O’Sullivan dons his Bluetrain guise for his own rework, conjuring up additional layers of melody, filtered effects and injects that all important bounce in only the way he can. Signing off with “Universal Truths”, Raude offers another slow jam all bound together with a powerful piece of spoken word.

Fans of Rhythm and Sound, Echochord, Sven Weisseman take note.
